Biography
Gia Chikhvaidze was born into the artist’s Jury Chikvaidze, family in 1961 in Tbilisi, Georgia. He currently lives and works in Los Angeles, USA. In 1979-1985, he studied easel graphics with the book illustration faculty at Tbilisi State Academy of Art. He works in graphic arts and painting. His thematic art belongs to post-surrealist movement. In Gia’s art fairy tale, phantasmagorical, imaginative elements are very important. Chikvaidze participates in different international group and solo exhibitions, among them there are exhibitions in Beverly Hills, San Francisco, New York, Chicago, Vancouver (Canada), and San Diego. Before Gia Chikvaidze left for USA, his works was exhibited in: Germany, Yugoslavia, Finland, Poland, Italy. His exhibitions in USA and Canada include the Canadian Artists’ Federation, Vancouver, 2000; Art Expo, San Francisco, California, 2001; and Art Expo, San Francisco, California, 2002. He has also painted the interior restaurant frescos in Hollywood and at Café Napoleon, California.
