Biography
Niko (Nikoloz) Abazadze, a sculptor, cinema artist, painter restorer; expert and researcher of martial arts; actor, screenwriter was born in 1967 in Tbilisi. From 1999 he lives and works in New York (U.S). He practices visual art from his childhood. 10 years old Niko discovers sculpture at the special circle of the Pioneers’ Palace, when he is at the studio of his teacher Z. Kratsashvili. From 1982 he continues studying at M. Toidze Art School. He graduated faculty of Monumental Sculpture at Tbilisi State Academy of Art. From 1996 he is a member of Georgian painters’ Union and participates in different exhibitions. From 1997-99 he is a painter of “ Didebis Zghapari” (Adult’s Tail) and author of the dolls.
Except painting, Niko is actively involved in social life. He is an activist at national liberation movement and veteran warrior for the territorial integrity of Georgia. Such kind experience of his life is expressed in some of his artworks.
Niko Abazadze is one of the founders and actual leader of the Association of Guides and Scouts in Georgia. He is also a co-founder of federation “Khridoli” and the researcher of Georgian martial arts. He is organizing ethnographical expeditions in the mountain regions of Georgia. Niko is also working as a head of bordering department of special rearguard.
Form 1999 he lives and works in New York. From time to time he participates in group exhibitions. He works as a painter-restorer in some very famous restoration companies such as: Evergreene Architectural Art, Hermitage Studios NY, Hass Restoration.
From 2004 he is interested in cinematography as an actor, screenwriter, painter and director of martial scenes. He plays main role in short feature film “Vali” (Debt) and he got a special prize at First Run Festival as the best actor there. He participates in other movies too: “Niko”, “Helen”, “Balloonist”, “Hunter of wolves”, “Soul Horse”, etc.
In 2007 he becomes a member of the Union of American Scenographers and participates in many cinema projects, such as: Joker, John Wick 3, Gotham 4, House of Cards 6, She’s Gotta Have It, FBI and etc.
