Biography

Gia Edgveradze was born in 1953 in Tbilisi, Georgia. Since 1988 he lives and works in Dusseldorf (Germany). In 1974-1980 he studied on the Faculty of Fine Arts at Tbilisi State Academy of Art. He works in contemporary art. Since 1985 he participates in group and solo exhibitions in different cities of the world. Gia’s works are kept in the collections of such institutions as: Georgian State Art gallery, France (Paris) Art Galleries, Tretyakov Gallery, Munich, Budapest, Moscow Contemporary Art Museums and in private collections in Madrid, Geneva, Stuttgart, Amsterdam, Budapest, etc. The prominent exhibitions of the recent years: Stolen Blanket and Other Short Stories, Gallery Flux, New York, 2011; Breakfast at Stephany, pilot project, Sprengel Museum in Hannover, Germany, 2009; Who is Afraid of Tennis, Sex and Other Entertainment; New Citations, Dusseldorf, Germany, 2007; Bride (video screenings and lecture), IFA Foundation, Berlin, Germany and Stuttgart, Germany, 2005.
