Biography
Irakli Bugiani was born in 1980 in Georgia. He currently lives and works in Germany. He graduated Tbilisi State Academy of Art in 2001 and then continued his education at the State Academy of Fine Arts, Karlsruhe, Germany. In 2010, he received a MA degree in Art History at Heinrich Heine University, Dusseldorf, Germany. Irakli is actively involved in different exhibitions and international art occurrences. He is the holder of several awards, among them, the 1st position on International Art Fair OW_ART 07 in Buchan, Germany and the International Art Fair Impulse in Osnabruck, Germany.
Irakli Bugiani works mainly in the medium of painting and he is oriented on art processes. He uses old and new photographs, different visual information, texts about the events occurring round his, in real life, which were and are happening in social, scientific, political spheres. For Irakli the most important of art is the creation process itself and the visual expression of this process on canvases. Irakli sometimes deliberately leaves on canvas the fragments made on different stages of the work process and that creates the effect of visually unfinished work.
