Biography
Melano Sokhadze was born in 1985 in Tbilisi. Since 2008 she lives and works in Switzerland, Geneva. Melano studied classical painting at Tbilisi State Academy of Art. During her study was is a member of the art group Creatorea. Artist also was a co-founder of the art group “Lott”, which was the union of young, interesting, radical and alternative artists in the beginning of the 21st century. Melano creates socially critical art and her diploma work “Wet Circle” together with the group Lott was the most controversial in Georgian Contemporary Art.
From 2008 Melano moved to Switzerland to study. She got her master degree in critical curatorial cyber media at Geneva University of Art and Design. Melano works in different mediums. Freedom in her self-expression is very important for the artist, so, she does not limit herself to work on one medium. Due to the thematic and concept of a work Melano tries to define a special element which could be transformed into an artwork according to her emotions, feelings and point of views.
